I couldn’t resist this book because, during college, I spent several summers in Texas. Those Texas boys are smokin’. I wasn’t disappointed by Zach. He delivers as a handsome, intelligent, heart of gold, southern man. Maddie is also instantly relatable as the heroine who is trying to protect her family.
What I didn’t expect from this book was the humor. Based on the blurb and the first chapter, it sounded like it would be a suspenseful, edge of your seat novel, but it was also character driven( I loved seeing Maddie open up to Zach and begin to trust him) and just plain funny—especially Zach. Suzie Quint has a knack for hysterical dialog. There was one point where my husband grabbed my kindle to see why I was laughing so hard.
Last, but not least, the loves scenes raised my temperature ten degrees, and there were a lot of them. If you’re thinking about buying this book, don’t hesitate. It’s a great read.
